Extreme earthquakes are at risk of occurring in our area. earthquakes most commonly come without warning but in order to keep yourself save there are a few things you can do. Make sure that no items in your house and work could fall and harm anyone because items falling on someone is the most common injury in an earthquake.

Earthquakes

Wildfires are very life threatening and can cause a jam in roadways. Make sure that roads are clear for emergency vehicles when exiting your area. Make sure to exit your area! Not evacuating or evacuating after recommended could be life threatening!

Mitigation: In order to decrease the intensity of a wildfire or home fire you can follow these recommended procedures. Clear vegetation that is flammable around structures of any sort. Clean your gutters and roof! The leaves and needles are very flammable. Make sure that trees are not close to chimneys and roof areas. Cover chimney outlets with mesh (1/2''). IF you have wood shingles on your roof choose a better roofing that is less flammable. 

Wildfires

Areas downstream at lower altitudes above sea level are at greater risk of a flood occurring. If you live in one of these make sure that you are able to be notified by either the radio, television, Emergency Alert Systems and any other local communication systems that are available. ​ For mudslides and landslides, you must just be familiar with the land that you live on and be aware of your surroundings. Landslides and mudslides come, in most cases, from heavy rain. Make sure that you pay attention to sounds that may signal movement of land and watch your storm drains. During an extreme storm listen to local stations and be on high alert.

Sadly, terrorism is something we have to prepare for. Even though it is rare, it is good to be prepared for everything. Always be aware of your surroundings. If you see something peculiar make sure to speak up. Report this odd behavior to police or security personnel in the area if any.  Make sure that in areas that your are frequent to learn the locations of the closest exits.
